Aftercare

Aftercare Instructions

We will bandage your tattoo at the end of your session, leave your new tattoo wrapped overnight.

In the morning, shower, being careful not to blast hot water directly on it. Let the water run over it off of your body. Clean your new tattoo with any unscented soap. Dedicate a bar of soap to your new tattoo that only you use. Do not scrub your new tattoo with a wash cloth, and be sure to let it air dry when you’re finished cleaning it. Clean your tattoo twice daily, allowing it to air dry before reapplying ointment.

When applying ointment be careful to only use enough to keep it moist, and reapply if necessary. Using too much ointment can clog your pores, and lead to a break out. Using not enough ointment can cause your tattoo to dry out, and scab up. Again, use just enough to keep it moist, and reapply if necessary. Dedicate your aftercare to your tattoo, do not share or use old ointments.

Apply one of the following aftercare ointments for the first 4-7 days of your healing process, until peeling occurs:

  • Aquaphor
  • A&D ointment (not cream, there is a difference)/l1>
  • Bacitracin

Your tattoo will peel like a sunburn. When this starts to happen, switch to an unscented hand lotion, and apply as necessary to keep tattoo moist.

Your tattoo will heal in 2-3 weeks. During that time, be mindful to keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight.

Normal hygiene is fine, but do not soak your tattoo while its healing.

During healing, stay away from saunas, steam rooms, pools, hot tubs, tanning beds, etc.

Generally be mindful that you do have an open wound when you leave with a new tattoo.
